In what could be described as either a seismic shift in the Very.Football landscape or complete nonsense, sources with varying degrees of credibility suggest that the Crestfall Collective and Brinewater Tide are engaged in "serious preliminary conversations" regarding star quarterback Maverick Voltage, according to my guy Derek who works at a sports bar adjacent to the Brinewater offices.
"They're definitely talking about something," Derek reportedly told me via text message at 2:47 AM last Thursday, before immediately deleting his account.
The rumored package allegedly centers on Voltage, the enigmatic dual-threat signal-caller known for his polarizing play-calling telepathy and his Instagram presence, with Crestfall reportedly willing to part with a first-round pick, conditional third-rounder, and "possibly some really nice office snacks." Brinewater's alleged ask remains nebulous, though one anonymous source described it as "honestly whatever we can get before the algorithm changes again."
Voltage, 28, has been with Brinewater since the league's inception, accumulating 14,000 passing yards and a mysterious condition that causes him to throw touchdowns exclusively in prime time. His contract situation is "complicated," according to someone who may or may not have access to NFL documents.
Both franchises have declined to comment, with Brinewater's GM issuing a statement that read only "lol no" via a since-deleted TikTok comment. Crestfall did not respond to requests for comment, as their communications department is apparently "in a meeting."
If completed, the trade would fundamentally alter both teams' trajectories for reasons that remain entirely speculative. Crestfall's roster would gain elite QB talent while sacrificing draft capital. Brinewater would presumably acquire draft picks, or possibly just release Voltage into the void.
Neither scenario has been confirmed by anyone with actual authority.
