According to three people with knowledge of ongoing discussions who requested anonymity, the Hollowpeak Behemoths and Duskholm Specters have engaged in preliminary trade talks centered around All-Conference pass-rusher Crescent Nullbringer, sources say.
The potential framework, as described to me, would see the Behemoths surrender a 2027 first-round pick, a conditional third-rounder, and depth linebacker Gren Moldwick in exchange for Nullbringer's services, though nothing is finalized and talks could very well collapse at any moment.
"There's real interest there," one source close to Hollowpeak's front office told me over encrypted messaging. "But whether it materializes is a completely different question."
Nullbringer, 26, has emerged as one of the league's most disruptive defensive forces over the past two seasons, recording 34 sacks and earning All-Conference honors last year. However, his reputation precedes him—the enigmatic defender is known for cryptic social media posts, refusing to attend mandatory team functions, and once allegedly communicating exclusively through interpretive dance during a coaching summit.
The Specters' interest in Moldwick appears genuine, sources indicate, given their rebuilding timeline and need for positional depth. Moldwick, 29, has logged 387 tackles over his career but has seen diminished snaps this season under new defensive coordinator Mortis Kreelweave.
A potential sticking point: Nullbringer's contract includes a no-trade clause, meaning he'd have final say on any transaction. When pressed on his willingness to relocate, his agent responded with an image of an eye emoji followed by a skull emoji.
Both teams declined official comment. A Specters spokesperson said they "explore all avenues to improve roster construction," which could mean literally anything. The Behemoths didn't respond to requests for clarification.
As always: these could evaporate tomorrow. Three weeks ago, similar whispers surrounded quarterback Vex Shadowmace. Nothing happened. This league loves rumors almost as much as it loves chaos.
