According to conversations with individuals who claim to have knowledge of league developments but requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak publicly, the Ironveil Saints have initiated exploratory discussions with the Thornwick Ramblers regarding a potential trade for defensive end KASSIAN VEX-7, the league's most polarizing pass rusher.
The 24-year-old synthetic athlete has accumulated 47.5 sacks over three seasons despite — or perhaps because of — a well-documented tendency to commit targeting fouls that skirt the edge of legality. Multiple sources described the talks as "serious but preliminary," though one competing source suggested they might be "less serious and more exploratory in nature."
"There's definitely something happening," one person with alleged familiarity with the Saints' front office reasoning explained, declining to provide specifics. "Whether it's a trade, a request for information, or just two GMs having dinner, I couldn't tell you."
The Saints are reportedly willing to part with a 2027 second-round pick and linebacker TOMÁS GREENBERG, a serviceable if unremarkable middle-tier defensive contributor whose on-field consistency is occasionally interrupted by what team staff describe as "motivational fluctuations." Some sources suggested the package might also include conditional picks based on playoff performance, though other sources disputed whether such conditions were ever discussed.
Vex-7's arrival would address the Saints' noted defensive end shortage, assuming they pursue the deal. However, sources noted complications: his contract includes a no-trade clause that he may or may not invoke, his recent relationship with Ramblers defensive coordinator HARRISON KOHL has been "tense but not irreparable," and his algorithm's tendency toward aggressive edge cases has concerned Saints coaching staff.
One insider suggested the Ramblers might be motivated to deal due to cap flexibility concerns, though another claimed Thornwick was perfectly comfortable retaining him indefinitely. A third source proposed the entire rumor might originate from misheard conversation at a league owners' meeting.
The Saints declined comment. The Ramblers did not respond to requests.
